S5A Medavog Couture Showing
Francisco Medavog has a burning passion for everything he engages in, whether it be collecting couture or creating his marvellous images. Passion is the one thing that is paramount in all creativity. Without passion, art would be nothing more than imprints on the retina. The work of Vincent Van Gogh is not worth millions of dollars because of his technical ability, he could hardly trace around his hand. His works are worth millions because of one thing; passion. We see in Vincent’s work the struggle, as Life itself struggles, as we all struggle. Therefore, we see in Van Gogh’s work a part of The Nature and of ourselves; and we are attracted to it as bees are to flowers.

We can also see in Francisco Medavog’s work, a part of ourselves, a part of the passionate struggle, and the struggle for perfection. Francisco Medavog now treads the path of all great artists… seeking perfection in his artworks. The true artist never reaches the end of that pathway. Leonardo daVinci was on such a path while he carried the Mona Lisa around with him for apparently nine years… and still for him, he had not reached perfection in his work. The artist is competing with God or with Mother Nature and that is a no win situation. Still we strive as we must strive, with passion in our hearts, as Francisco strives. And I for one, support him 100% of the way.
I have studied art for most
of my life… longer than I care to remember… initially, strictly in the tradition
of the Old Masters. During these past few years, I have turned to the Modern
Masters and to Modern Art. Francisco Medavog is a Modern Artist and his work is
unique. He has the most marvellous sense of colour combinations; his work is
striking, fresh and vibrant in its execution. He has and eye for composition
quite rare which stems from his initial interest in photography. I do not
remember who coined the phrase “All art is one” but my mentor quoted it to me
often. This quotation suits Francisco very well; as he has taken several arts
and incorporated them into his own unique style.
